By far, Belize has to be one of the most fabulous dive sites yet to become over crowded!! Belize has the second largest barrier reef (guess the
largest).. with well over 200 differnt cays (or islands). Stayed on Ambergris Caye in the town of San Pedro - most carefree, charming, relaxing and refreshing place in the world! San Pedro had nothing but fresh
food, friendly people and a very relaxed environment. Everyone spoke English, loved to relax and treated us with a high level of hospitality.
As for the diving, Ambergris has well over 50+ named dive sites. Each unique and different, the reef is 1/2 a mile away all dive sites can be
reached within a short 5 minutes boat ride. Most dives are in the 60-90 foot range, visability was close to 100+ feet with undisturbed coral reefs. Not uncommon to see large schools of sharks, stingrays, octopus,
turtles, and untold schools of fish (even swam with school of 10 dolphins for close to 15 minutes - way too cool).
Some must see dive sites: M&M caverns (3 long 30 foot caves), Tres Cocos and Hol Chan Marine Park. The Marine Park is
a shallow dive; since it is clear opening to the ocean within the reef this is where we saw most of the big stuff (including several great barracudas).
